Hi, I'm Céin (pronounced "Keen" or "Key-un"). I'm a half Irish / half British crossbreed and was raised in the Black Country in the West Midlands, UK.

I'm a two time BAFTA winning writer and series director that works across both scripted and non-scripted television formats. Often specialising in comedy; I devotedly craft, lead and deliver confident, ambitious, warm and funny TV.

​

I also create original TV commercials using my experience and knowledge of broadcast TV to deliver powerful and effective advertising.

​

I fell in love with writing and directing as a boy, making my own B-movies with my brothers. Our biggest hits were 'Gator' and 'Gator II: He's Back!', using an inflatable alligator lilo. They were rubbish.

 

My focus is always in finding the 'soul' of the project and approaching it with genuine heart and sincerity, so audiences feel fulfilled.

​Alongside my writing partner Andy Kinnear, I'm the co-writer and creator of the cult BBC scripted comedy series Top Coppers, the BBC true crime mocumentary series Sexy Murder and the Channel 4 comedy thriller pilot Law Man, all of which I also directed.

​

I directed Series 10 and 11 of the BAFTA winning Horrible Histories for the BBC, from which I was asked to direct several hit CBBC comedy series including the anarchic Andy and the Band, the magical child led Pickle Storm and the brand new Horrible Histories spin-off Horrible Science, coming in 2025.

I've also written, produced and directed across various comedy entertainment, factual entertainment and documentary formats. Most recently as the series director of The Assembly, a new, landmark, neurodivergent led entertainment series for ITV in 2025. I was also the showrunner (series director, writer & exec producer) for the epic return of GamesMaster after 23 years, the 90s cult video game challenge series where I was responsible for conceiving and implementing the creative vision that faithfully captured the spirit of the original while also satisfying a new 2020s audience..

 

I was recommend for GamesMaster by Channel 4 following a series of successful fact ent formats, including Peng Life for E4, Spencer and Vogue for C4 and In Bed with Jamie for E4, all of which were commissioned to series from my original pilots.

 

I've also completed numerous projects for E4's BAFTA winning structured reality series Made in Chelsea as well as directing the series itself.

I've directed and edited over 60 original sizzles, tasters and pilots and self-cut many of my broadcast projects via my own Avid and Adobe Premiere suite.
